Mab-ZAP

a chemical conjugate of affinity-purified goat anti-mouse IgG
and the ribosome-inactivating protein, saporin

(molecular weight 210 kDa)

Second immunotoxins are conjugations of a secondary antibody to saporin. This secondary conjugate uses the secondary antibody (affinity-purified goat anti-mouse IgG) to "piggyback" onto your mouse primary antibody in order to evaluate the ability of the primary antibody to internalize. Once Mab-ZAP is internalized, saporin breaks away from the targeting agent and inactivates the ribosomes, which causes protein inhibition and, ultimately, cell death.
